Guidelines people open, not PDFs they forget
A brand stays consistent only if the people producing materials know the rules and can find the files. Guidelines that are too long, too vague or buried in an old PDF get ignored, and the brand drifts one exception at a time. Good guidelines are short enough to read, specific enough to follow and easy to keep current.
How we work on brand guidelines
Identify the users
We find out who will rely on the guidelines, from in-house marketers to printers and agencies, and what each of them needs to get right.
Write clear rules
We document how to use the logo, type, colour, imagery and voice, with examples of correct and incorrect use rather than abstract principles.
Package the assets
We organise logos, fonts, templates and image libraries so the right file is easy to find and the wrong one is hard to use.
Plan for updates
We set up the guidelines so they can be revised as the brand evolves. Braind is also developing Braindbook®, a web-based format for brand guidelines that can be kept up to date in one place.
What the work typically includes
